What is the IMD Guest House Foundation?

The IMD Guest House Foundation exists to provide affordable and secure accommodations and a supportive environment for families and friends of patients receiving inpatient treatment at a medical institution in the Illinois Medical District (IMD). The Guest House also provides accommodations for patients and their families when the patient has traveled to receive outpatient treatment.

What do you mean by “affordable”?

Rates for Guest House accommodations are determined on a sliding scale based on income and special circumstances. No one is turned away from the Guest House because of the ability to pay.

What is the relationship between the IMD Guest House Foundation and the participating hospitals?

The IMD Guest House has a cooperative working relationship with the hospitals for guest referrals and input for support services. Rush University Medical Center, University of Illinois Medical Center, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center have each been involved with the Guest House from its founding.

What is the relationship of between the IMD Guest House Foundation and the Illinois Medical District Commission?

The Illinois Medical District Commission is a cooperative and supportive partner with the IMD Guest House Foundation and provides certain in-kind benefits, such as office space, to the IMD Guest House Foundation. The Guest House is very appreciative of this supportive relationship.

Is the IMD Guest House Foundation a non-profit organization?

The IMD Guest House Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to the IMD Guest House Foundation aretax-deductible under IRS guidelines.
