Illinois Medical District
The Illinois Medical District (IMD) is a defined geographic area within the city of Chicago that was created by the Illinois Medical District Act in 1941. The IMD is run by the Illinois Medical District Commission (http://wwww.imdc.org), whose mission is to bring value to the IMD through education, research, technology, advances in health care and successful business enterprise.
The IMD has the nation’s largest concentration of health care institutions and has over 70,000 daily visitors. The quality and magnitude of the IMD’s care attracts patients from all over the world. Several of the country’s most recognized medical institutions are located within the IMD: Rush University Medical Center, University of Illinois Medical Center, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.
Rush University Medical Center
Rush University Medical Center is an academic medical center that includes a 676-bed hospital, including the Johnston R. Bowman Health Center, which provides medical and rehabilitative care to older adults and people with short- and long-term disabilities.
